License to Marry

Yup, it's official. We got licensed to marry!

(We stopped some guy who had just come out of the near-by cigar store to snap a pic of us. He was very kind to oblige.)

We were excited!

Things are coming together. We are officially one month away from the day. Yee ha!

And we bought some wine. It's going to be a real partay!

Invites!

It's been a minute since this blog was updated because, well, we've been busy with school, work, teaching, and you know, planning a wedding.

Invites have gone out and even though you've probably seen them, I wanted to post some close up pics that we took of one. Yay for macro-lenses!

Ginelle's sister Misha did us the amazing, wonderful, beautiful, unbelievable favor of handwriting all of the invitations and envelopes.

Her dad Jim led the way in cutting and gluing them inside the handmade paper, which came all the way from a little village in Thailand.

A plug for our caterer...

Having good meat wouldn't mean much if we didn't also have a talented caterer lined up to cook it for us, so we'd like to give ours a little plug here. Dori Martin (of Dori Martin Catering) was recommended to us by several people in the Kempton area, and she has been fantastic to work with as we progress, step by step, through the wedding planning process.

We're especially pleased that Dori was willing to work with us on sourcing local meat. Serving quality meat at the reception was a big priority for Ginelle and I, and most of the other caterers we talked to weren't even willing to entertain the option. Dori has been very flexible and accommodating (and patient!), and we'd highly recommend her services.

We're not going to give away much about the menu for now, but if you'd like to get in touch with her, her contact info can be found here.

More on Dietrich's

Here is a schnippit from that write-up in Bon Appetit that I mentioned last time:

We have meat! Really, really, really good meat.*

We're pleased to announce that the meat for the reception entree is going to come from Dietrich's Meats, located in nearby Krumsville, PA.
Dietrich's does it right when it comes to meat. Everything they carry is antibiotic and hormone free, local, and always fresh as can be. In fact, if you're coming in from out of town and you want to indulge your carnivorous instincts, I highly suggest you stop in and take some of their delicious products home with you. (Try the garlic-smoked bacon! You'll thank me if you do.)

Verna Dietrich, the matriarch of Dietrich's Meats.

Dietrich's is so good, in fact, that they were recently featured in an issue of Bon Apetit magazine (that's what Verna has laying out in front of her in the pic). I'm still looking for a copy of that article, but for now you can read more about their store in this bloggular write-up that I just stumbled upon while grazing in the interwebs.

Mmmmmm..... meat.

*Even though I'm raving about meat here, I promise the veggie entree option will also be delicious.
